Diagnostics and target values
The guidelines of medical societies form the basis. The assessment includes HDL, LDL, triglycerides, lipoprotein(a) and other risk factors.
Lipoprotein(a) is a largely inherited risk factor. European guidelines recommend measuring it at least once in adulthood.
When treatment is required, target values are defined according to the treat-to-target principle and monitored over time.
